North Eveleigh

UrbanGrowth NSW is working closely with Transport for NSW to prepare a masterplan to guide renewal of North Eveleigh. We expect to lodge a formal planning proposal in 2017.

Redevelopment could create a new mainly residential area with easy access to cultural, education and work-related activities in the area. Our plans outline significant new homes with taller buildings (proposed up to 20 storeys) located next to the railway corridor and lower buildings located closer to surrounding terrace housing. The proposed transition in building heights will help to reduce the impact on the character of the existing neighbourhood. Plans provide for new housing to sit alongside new parks, a community cultural centre in the old historic Clothing Store building, a childcare centre and local shops to create a neighbourhood with a distinctive character that builds on the area’s strong arts, culture and history.

The transformation of the North Eveleigh precincts could:

  • activate Wilson Street
  • create new and enhanced green active transport links
  • provide opportunity for local shops to provide choice for residents
  • reinvigorate the Clothing Store building with community uses
  • create significant new public open space.
