North Eveleigh consultation

22 March 2016

North Eveleigh will be the first neighbourhood to be delivered under the Central to Eveleigh Urban Transformation and Transport Program. Late last year we presented a concept plan to the community and asked for feedback on the design of a new park, adaptive reuse of an important historic building, public art and heritage interpretation, and the arrangement of new apartment buildings.

We have revised the concept plan to improve the park layout and the arrangement of buildings ranging in height from three to 20 storeys and want to show you how it has evolved. You can learn about the revised plan online or at an upcoming community event. We are also seeking your ideas on the detailed design for a new public park, future community uses for the historic Clothing Store building, celebrating heritage and locally significant names for the places and streets until 17 April.

Our planning for North Eveleigh is being guided by a vision and design principles developed for the Central to Eveleigh Program over the past two years. To achieve these, new planning controls will be needed and we will undertake a range of studies and assessments. The Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) has now issued guidance on what studies are required. More information can be found on the DPE Major Projects website.

The feedback received throughout the planning for North Eveleigh, including the current consultation, will inform the plans that will be lodged with DPE later this year. DPE will then put the plans on public exhibition for further community comment.
