Step into history

22 March 2016

A free interactive website and phone app called Eveleigh Stories celebrates the rich history, people and events of the Eveleigh Railway Workshops.

The community has told us they value the area’s rich heritage and want more accessible ways to learn about it and share it with future generations. Eveleigh Stories brings the unique heritage of the Eveleigh area to life through digital media including a website, video, interactive kiosk, and smart phone and tablet walking tours of the Blacksmith’s Workshop.

One of the ‘key moves’ we developed with the community earlier this year for the Central to Eveleigh Urban Transformation and Transport Program was “to make a strong arts, cultural and heritage area and to secure its future in Sydney’s cultural landscape”.

Initially focused on the Australian Technology Park. Eveleigh Stories will expand over time to include more stories about individuals and events from the history of the North Eveleigh and South Eveleigh precincts to deepen connections across the rail corridor and within communities.
You can upload your own stories to the website. Visit www.eveleighstories.com.au and step into Sydney’s history.
