Open space and green infrastructure
From green roofs and green walls, to small and large local parks and public plazas, town squares and expanded bike lanes - open spaces of many forms will be essential to every neighbourhood. We all need places to relax from the sometimes hectic city lives we lead.
To achieve this we can embrace a green infrastructure approach that incorporates: parks, streets, plazas, sustainable drainage systems, cycle routes, green roofs, walls and facades. This will form a network of interlinked, multi-purpose open spaces with good connections to where people live, work and visit.
This could see new parks that are safe, active and attractive, with a target of 15% of each precinct’s developable land (excluding streets) public open space with the exception of the potential future planning for Redfern Station Precinct due to expected heritage and other constraints.
